Yesterday was one of the most chaotic Sunday’s I have EVER worked.
Our most senior server got fired on Friday. The whole restaurant is in shock. She wrote the schedules, assisted me with training and was the GM’s right hand.
Until we got our new GM a few weeks ago.
Anyways, now there are about 20 highlighted shifts that are all big shifts. So I picked up all of her Sundays. Boy do I regret it now.
The highlight of my day was the Sprint Table.
We are attached to a mall, and the employee’s from Sprint come over all the time on their lunch breaks. They are usually very nice, but notoriusly bad tippers.
This particular group spends the first 15 minutes demanding different tables around the restaurant, while we were on a wait! So the ultimately settle into one of my booths and snipe at the hostess “Tell our server that we are ready to order now!” As if I had been ignoring them or something and hadn’t taking their order yet.
I go over and they want drinks on Happy Hour. But none of the drinks they want are ON happy hour. Sorry guys!
I ring in food and drinks at the same time. Their food takes 16 minutes. I know, it’s a long time. Our lunch goal is 12 minutes. But it was a very busy day. And they ordered Cheeseburger sliders, which for some reason only known to god, take about 12-15 minutes. Don’t ask me why.
I check in the kitchen and the GM is pulling the plates down, I run out to them with refills, and inform them the food will be out in one moment, I just have to grab it. They are all smiles.
Somewhere in the 60 seconds it took me to run back and grab the food and deliver it to the table, they start abusing Manager K. Who is really sick with an ear infection and we have been trying to send home all day.
So I drop the food, ask if they need anything else, etc. Nope. everything is great thanks!
I go back and Manager K is waiting for me and informs me were are going to take care of all the food on their bill. 30$ total. She says they yelled at her and were so rude etc. I feel bad.
I check on table – once again super nice and sunshiney with me.
I drop check. They pay with credit cards.
So now, I get to call up Corporate Sprint and let them know that a few of their employee’s are drinking on their lunch breaks. I’m sure that is a big no-no. And I’ve got credit cards with their names attached to bills with drinks.
Don’t mess with my favorite Manager, mang!
And my new GM is a total snippy bitch.
