Friday Night Battle
Posted by Cassy on November 5, 2007
Friday nights are usually a battle.
First, fighting for the best station… Even though you’re scheduled in a certain station, that doesn’t stop half the staff from attempting to switch around. Unfortunetly, if you get stuck in one of the lesser liked stations, your screwed.
That was me friday night. Desperately begging, offering money, booze, sexual favors, anything to get out of the crappy shift. I actually wanted to get home ASAP, but that wasn’t in my cards as half the shift was newbies.
So I sulked and made my way out to my station. At this point in the night, there are three people in my area, with me coming in last as the station closer. There are 11 tables between 3 people. Of course, all of these tables are already sat for the two people already there. So I pass the next hour running food, doing sidework and skipping around the restaurant trying to pretend I’m not irritated.
Finally I get a few tables, a 9 top that doubles the gratuity (Thanks Guys!) So with a fresh 40 bucks already in my pocket, I’m excited about the evening.
Everything went up from there. It seems every time I turned around I was getting 15-20 dollar tips. Awesomeness, I know!
So I ended the night with a whopping 980$ in sales (that is pretty pathetic for a friday night)
I walked with 180$ after tipping out 50$. I haven’t walked with 20% of my sales in a few months because of the stupid 3 course meal.
It was an awesome night. Saturday, was a different story. But that’s another blog.
